Evaline’s Story

Evaline Achieng Odoyo is a 35-year-old mother of seven from Katieno. She once struggled to provide for her family. However, her life changed when she joined the Group Savings and Loaning (GS&L) program. With determination and smart choices, Evaline has built a better future for her family.

From Struggles to Opportunities

Before joining the GS&L program, Evaline faced daily challenges. Feeding her family and keeping her small tomato business running was hard.

Then, she learned about the GS&L program. It gave her hope and a chance to improve her life. She decided to join and take the first step toward change.

Smart Investments for Growth

Evaline received her first shareable amount of Ksh. 30,000. She used it wisely by:

  • Purchased building materials for her family’s home.
  • Bought three goats.
  • Expanded her tomato business.

These smart investments gave her the boost she needed to move forward.

Growing Her Tomato Business

Evaline’s tomato business was struggling before the program. She could only sell one crate at a time. After joining the GS&L program, however, she expanded her business. Today, she sells five crates regularly, earning more income.

With this success, she also started goat farming. This gave her another way to earn money and provide for her family.

Learning Important Financial Skills

The GS&L program taught Evaline more than just saving. She also learned how to manage her money wisely. For example, she began saving half of her earnings and reinvesting in her business.

“I’ve learned to save consistently. Now, I make a point to secure my future,” Evaline said.

These skills helped her feel more confident and capable of making decisions for her family.

Support Through Community

Being part of the GS&L program gave Evaline more than financial help. It also gave her a strong community.

As a group leader, Evaline faced challenges, such as handling loan defaults. However, the support of her group made solving problems easier. She also gained a network of women who encouraged her and shared ideas.

Overcoming Challenges

Although Evaline’s story is inspiring, it was not always easy. Saving regularly required discipline and sacrifices. However, she stayed focused on her goals and worked hard to overcome difficulties.

Her advice to others is simple:

Looking Forward

Evaline remains determined to keep growing. She has set a goal to save Ksh. 50,000 by the end of the current cycle. In addition, she dreams of further expanding her tomato business and increasing her livestock.

Conclusion
Evaline Achieng Odoyo’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience, determination, and community support. Through the GS&L program, she has turned challenges into opportunities and built a brighter future for herself and her family.
